This taxon has several sub-species :

This taxon had recently been considered as a subspecies of Q. x coutinhoi by F.M. Vazquez & al., then replaced by the same authors at the rank of hybrid species.

leaves leathery, 3-9 x 2.5-7 cm, hairless above, glabrous ou glabrescent below, sinuate-lobed, oblong to spatulate, with 4-9 vein pairs, apex rounded, base cordate or attenuate; petiole glabrous 0.6-1.5 cm; flower solitary on a pubescent peduncle 1-2.5 cm long; plant sterile; area restricted to a unique locality in Badajoz Province.

- In 2014, this taxon has been promoted to a true nothospecies rank : Q. x beturica (F.M. Vazquez & al.) F.M. Vazquez, C.Vila-Viçosa, Meireles & C.Pinto-Gomes 2014 stat. nov. It is characterized by stellate trichomes abaxially.
